Made to Measure Motorcycle Leathers: How It Works

Made to measure motorcycle leathers are built from your own body measurements rather than picked from a size chart. If you've ever had sleeves that ride up in a tuck, a jacket that's right across the chest but short in the body, or boots that fit your feet but not your calves, made-to-measure gear is designed to solve exactly that.

This guide walks through how the made-to-measure process works at Racevoro, from measurements to design approval, production, shipping and what happens if something doesn't fit, so you know what to expect before you order.

What "made to measure" means

Standard sizes are built around an average body. Made-to-measure leathers start from your measurements, and the pattern is cut to your proportions. You don't choose "a 52" or "a large". You tell us your sizes in centimetres and the piece is built to them.

We make four made-to-measure products:

Every piece is handmade in Sialkot, Pakistan, and shipped to the United States with free tracked express shipping.

Step 1: Place your order

Choose your product and options and complete checkout. For the Apex suit, that means choosing 1-Piece or 2-Piece, your perforation (front or full), lining, and any upgrades such as a vented hump, a hydro hump with a water bladder, or extra knee sliders. We confirm your payment by email.

You don't need your measurements ready at checkout. They come next.

Step 2: Send your measurements

After your order is confirmed, we email you a link to the measurement form for your product, together with our Size & Measurement Guide. A few principles apply to every product:

  • Measure your body, not your gear. These are body measurements with no added "allowance". Our pattern master adds what each piece needs.
  • Use centimetres. If your tape only shows inches, multiply by 2.54.
  • Get a helper. Measurements taken by someone else are usually more accurate.
  • Wear thin, close-fitting clothing and stand straight and relaxed.

What we ask for depends on the product:

  • Racing suits need the most detail: height, weight, neck, shoulders, chest, waist, hip, sleeve length with a bent elbow, arm and leg circumferences, back and front torso length, full trunk length, outside and inside leg, plus your riding position and fit preference.
  • Jackets use the upper-body measurements plus your requested jacket length and whether you'll ride in it or wear it casually.
  • Gloves need both hands, labelled left and right: knuckle circumference (excluding the thumb), hand length and wrist, plus your dominant hand and cuff style.
  • Boots need both feet and legs: foot length and width, ball and instep girth, ankle, and calf at your boot-top height (with that height measured from the floor).

If you'll wear anything under your suit or jacket, such as a vest or other equipment, tell us its brand, exact model and size. We use this only to fit the pattern.

Step 3: We check every measurement

Before anything is designed or cut, we review your form. If something is missing or looks unusual, we send you all our questions in one message and you reply in writing. Not sure about a measurement? Write it in the notes on your form. We check every form before production.

Step 4: Approve your design in writing

Next we send you a design mockup showing your colours, name, number and artwork placement. You can ask for changes before you approve, and changes are free at this stage. To approve, you reply in writing confirming the design version and your measurements.

This written approval is the most important step in made-to-measure gear. It means both sides agree exactly what's being built before production starts. A few things to know:

  • Names can be up to 20 characters and race numbers up to 3 digits.
  • You need the right to use any logo or artwork you send. We can't reproduce third-party logos or trademarks without written permission from the owner.
  • After approval, changes may be possible only before production starts, and may cost extra. We always confirm any extra cost in writing first.

Step 5: Production

Once you've approved, your piece is accepted into production and we email you when it starts. Typical production times are estimates, and we confirm your ready date in writing when production is accepted:

  • Suits and jackets: about 10 to 15 working days.
  • Gloves and boots: about 7 working days.

Each piece is handmade in Sialkot, Pakistan, a city with a long-established leather-goods and sporting-goods industry.

Step 6: Quality check and shipping

Before packing, your piece is checked against your approved design and measurements. It then ships by international express courier (DHL, UPS or FedEx), and we email you the carrier name and tracking number.

  • Transit: about 5 to 7 days after dispatch (estimate). Customs clearance can add time.
  • Cost: tracked express shipping to the United States is free.
  • Duties and taxes: because your order ships internationally, we tell you in writing before it ships whether any import duties or taxes are payable on delivery.

See our Shipping page for full details.

Step 7: Fit check and our remake policy

When your gear arrives, try it on and tell us how it fits. If something isn't right, contact us after delivery with your order number, photos or a short video of the fit problem, and measurements of the finished item. We compare it with your approved measurements and design.

  • If it doesn't match your approved measurements or design (our production error), we correct or remake it at no cost to you, and we pay the shipping both ways.
  • If the measurements you supplied were incorrect, we assess the piece and quote a correction or remake before any work starts.
  • A remake typically takes about 10 to 15 working days (estimate).
  • If a piece arrives damaged or with a manufacturing defect, contact us with photos and your order number and we'll put it right.

Because each piece is made for one person and can't be resold, returns for a change of mind are not normally accepted once production has started. Before production starts, nothing has been cut, and if you want to cancel we confirm in writing what can be refunded. Your rights under consumer law aren't affected. Read the full Returns & Remakes policy before ordering.

Tips for a great made-to-measure result

  • Take your time measuring. Accurate measurements are the foundation of the whole process.
  • Be honest about fit preference. Tell us whether you prefer a closer race fit or a little more room.
  • Ask questions before you approve. Materials, options, certification: ask us and we'll reply in writing.
  • Order with time to spare. Allow for production, transit and any customs delay before your next track day.
